Antihistamines and weight gain

Antihistamines belong to a family of drugs that compete with the existence of histamines in the body. These histamines cause various allergies in the body in the form of running nose, flu and sneezing. Hence, to tackle with these allergies, Antihistamines are highly used.

But these Antihistamines also have a few side effects like weight gain and obesity. As a matter of fact, a study suggests that usage of drugs like Antihistamines have played a key role in this contribution.

Allergies and cold flu are a very common disorder prevalent. Originally, Antihistamines were only used to tackle with schizophrenia. But slowly, its usage spread to inclusion in other medicines as well. These medicines are mainly used for curing common cold, itching sensation, running nose, head ache and so on. As a result, the input of Antihistamines in the body has increased manifold. This has resulted in many people gaining weight at a very young age. 

Drugs having Antihistamines make you very lazy and sedate. It is not that you are not willing to work. But these drugs get into your metabolism and increase your appetite. Your metabolism slows down and this has a direct bearing on your body weight and obesity.
