Nasal Spray: can they cause any side effect

Nasal sprays contain a solution of anti-inflammatory drugs that are intended to offer immediate relief from congestion and other allergic reactions. Like most of the strong medicines, this drug is also associated with a number of side effects which can both minor and severe in form. Therefore, it is imperative to consult a doctor first before taking any random nasal spray to cure slight congestion in the nose or throat. Most of the decongestants in the nasal sprays work by the narrowing the size of the blood vessels in the nose so as to allow the proper flow of air. This does provide a relief, however, temporary which lasts for a couple of hours only. This rises the need for frequent usage of these sprays whenever the person feels discomfort or blockage in the nose. It is important to note that if the treatment with the help of these sprays extends for a longer period of time, the person develops addiction for them. This creates an addictive cycle wherein the person feels the urge to use the spray more frequently than required.  

Some of the most serious side effects of these medicines are profuse nose bleeds, sores in the nose, allergic reactions of sorts, breathing problems, chills, fever, body aches, nasal pain and blurred vision.
