Climate change and allergy

Despite of several environmental effects of the nature, nature can also extend the season of allergy by extending the season of pollen. Due to this the person suffering from allergy will have to bear it for long duration of time. Due to the increase in the global temperature of the earth, there is increase in the duration of pollen season observed. Increase in the pollen season seems to have increased the risk of health for the people who are suffering from asthma or from similar kind of allergic disorders. Due to prolonged time duration of pollen season, the cases of disease such as sneezing, watery and runny nose and congestion are going to increase. Studies have also shown that the increase in the level of CO2 in the environment has brought an increase in the tree pollen level. There are medications available such as decongestants and antihistamines which can be used for preventing the symptoms of allergies but they must be taken only under the supervision of the doctor because they can also give rise to side effects such as bleeding from the nose and drowsiness. Most common season for pollen allergies is the season of fall or spring. Since pollens are light in weight, they can travel long distance with the help of wind.
