Food allergy during pregnancy |
Pregnant women who have had food allergies in the past or think that they might have a food allergy should be extra cautious during their pregnancy for the well being and safety of both their child and themselves. Many women who already suffer from food allergies are known to show stronger symptoms during pregnancy. This can have extremely adverse effects on their health as well as that of the foetus. Therefore pregnant women should be extremely careful of what they eat. Food with allergens should be avoided all costs. Even if they come in contact with a food allergen accidentally, they must seek medical help immediately before symptoms start showing up. Since women who are prone to food allergy will have to avoid a lot of foods during pregnancy, they must fulfil their child’s and their own nutritional requirements through other sources. It is advisable that they eat a lot of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Food substitutes which do not contain the allergen protein or other sources of protein which they are not allergic to are a good option. Besides these, you might also need nutritional supplements to make up for what you miss out on in a diet without certain foods. |
