Leukotriene Inhibitors drug interaction |
It can get involved in interactions with a number of medications taken for other health problems. The most common drugs that are known for interacting with Leukotriene Inhibitors are NSAIDs, Aspirin, Rifampin and Phenobarbital. These medicines interact with Theophyline, which is a medicine taken for allergic asthma. Their interaction leads to increase in blood levels. Likewise, interaction of Leukotriene Inhibitors with warfarin (prescribed as a blood thinner) might also increase blood levels. This can also lead to blood clotting. There are medications given to heart attack patients that often react with asthma and allergy medicines having Leukotriene Inhibitors. It also gives birth to negative reaction when taken with Beta-blocker propranolol. There are beta blockers that minimize the efficacy of Leukotriene Inhibitors. Terfenadines are also not effective when taken with Leukotriene inhibitors. These are just a few; there are many medications that should not be taken with Leukotriene Inhibitors. So, it’s best to consult your doctor before having a Leukotriene Inhibitor. |
