The emergence of allergic reactions due to the hypersensitivity of the lungs is called lung allergy. The first and foremost reason of the occurrence of an allergic reaction is the over exposition to a chemical laden environment. In the midst of such an environment, foreign irritants like pollens gain entry into the lungs. Secondly, the muscles comprising the bronchial tree get over-reactive when the immune system releases histamine to counter an infested foreign agent. The third and a rare cause of lung allergy is high inflammation in the vascular bed in the body.
One of the most common forms of lung allergy is asthma. This is a breathing disorder characterized by the contraction of the muscles of the airways. This condition occurs when an unusually large amount of viscous mucus is produced by the bronchial glands. In severe cases, the airways get obstructed by the mucous accumulation which leads to difficulties in breathing. Hay fever is another common manifestation of lung allergies. This a seasonal allergy which occurs due to the person’s sensitivities towards pollens and certain kind of grasses. Furthermore, edema and conjunctiva are some more signs of lung allergies which are characterized by excessive sneezing and runny nose. |
