Mast cell inhibitors are basically those medications that help to reduce certain type of cellular reactions. These medications work on certain cells named mast cells. They reduce mast cells production in order to avoid the stimulation of histamines from these cells. Some of the allergies that are treated by mast cell inhibitors are pollen allergies that lead to hay fever. They are available in various forms like spray form or drops form for nasal and eye allergy. One has to take care of several things when taking this medication. In case of eye drops, contact lenses should be avoided and also take care that they are not used excessively. One problem with mast cell inhibitors is that, in order to take them into effect they need to be taken at least a month prior. Some of the common side effects caused due to these medications are itchiness, redness, swelling as they are applied on the affected region, they do not interact with any other medications. |
