Medication for nasal allergy

Some of the medications used in the treatment of nasal allergy include: 

Nasal corticosteroid sprays: This spray is used to control and to palliate allergy signs and symptoms like constant sneezing, nasal stuffiness, itchy feeling and runny nose. There are some side effects in these medications which includes nasal irritation, unpleasant smell or taste, and nosebleeds or epistaxises. However these medications cause fewer side effects when compared with oral corticosteroids.  

Antihistamine nasal sprays: This sprays helps to relieve the patients from constant sneezing, irritation, running nose, postnasal drip and sinus congestion. Side effects of antihistamine nasal sprays are unpleasant or bitter taste, giddiness, dopiness or fatigue, dry mouth, headache, burning sensation in nasal passage, nosebleed, sickness, runny nose, sneezing and sore throat.  

Decongestant is one of the best medicines which is used for quick, impermanent relief of nasal allergy. These medicines are not recommended to pregnant women, old people and also people with high blood pressure.

  • Oral decongestants: Pills and liquids are the oral decongestants which gives instant relieve from nasal congestion caused by pollinosis or hay fever.
  • Nasal decongestant sprays: These sprays are very effective which relieve nasal allergy. Nasal decongestant sprays may cause some side effects such as burning sensation in the nose, dryness, running nose and constant sneezing. High dosage of this medicine leads to irregular heartbeat, irritability, giddiness, sleep disorder, headaches, anxiousness and high blood pressure. Don’t use this spray for more than 7 days as it cause serious health complications.
