Whey protein allergy

There are numerous people who develop allergies towards the whey proteins present in the milk. Whey is nothing but the watery portion which constitutes around 20 per cent of the proteins present in the milk. This allergy is sometimes also referred as lactose intolerance which may be initially observed among infants. In fact, it has been well observed that more than 2-3 percent of the newborns are allergic to whey proteins in the mother’s milk. These children, however, overcome their allergies after hitting a certain age. Now the question arises as to what are the reasons for these allergies? Many health experts and scientists have proven that whey allergic symptoms are basically the response of immune system to the proteins present in the cow’s milk. Since the main ingredients of the cow’s milk are whey proteins and casein, many kids and adults tend to develop allergies towards either of these constituents.

Some of the most common reactions of this allergy are disruptions in the digestive system and sometimes, illnesses of sorts observed on the skin surface and nasal airways. In general cases, it leads to bowel problems which can be at times extremely discomforting for the body.
