Steroid Nasal Spray Interactions

Steroid nasal sprays are strong medications used for the treatment of nasal allergies. Since these sprays are topical medications, they can be interacted with other medicines to relieve several health conditions. Most of the doctors recommend the interaction of vitamins’ and minerals’ supplements with these sprays. Most commonly, Cannabinoid medications like Dronabinol, Marijuana, Nabilone uses in combination with Oxymetazoline Nasal Spray lead to drug interactions. This interaction is known to increase the heart beat rates. This can lead to a major cardiovascular attack of the heart beats are not normalized on time.  Furthermore, Oxymetazoline Nasal Sprays are also interacted with Monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Some of the most common examples of these inhibitors are Isocarboxazid, Phenelzine, Rasagiline, and Selegiline. Certain anti-depressants, especially tricyclic anti-depressants are interacted with these nasal sprays. In addition, the use of the drug ketoconazole should be strictly avoided by those availing the treatment of nasal congestion with nasal sprays. The interaction of these drugs proves extremely dangerous and can cause life threatening impairments in the body. Therefore, self-experimentations of combining these sprays with any random medicines can be potentially dangerous to the health and should not even be attempted. Instead it is advisable to consult a doctor in case of any illness and strictly follow his instructions.
